Just had a Maltese SoftSwiss setup flagged for 2 % Visa gambling ‘processing’ on our last EUR 80k withdrawal batch. Zero heads-up from them, zero cost in the pitch deck, and now their wallet just rolls it into ‘operational overhead’ as if it’s normal. So much for ‘no-fee.’
New to this, soaking it up.

what’s the point of a ‘wallet’ if it can’t even tell you the card fees change on the day they run your batch through the processor

Card networks don’t just "flag" — they send an automated hit with a specific code, then the acquirer marks your MID for gambling and Visa/MC invoices you retroactively. SoftSwiss wallet doesn’t own the MID, so they’re just billing you the 2 % without leverage to fight the chargeback if you push back. How many operators actually opened the case with their acquiring bank before swallowing it?
Hype isn't a track record.

Tbf we took the same pill in Gibraltar back in April when our batch hit 90k EUR and Visa slapped us with that sneaky 2 % label “GAMBLING_PROC” in the next day’s statement — SoftSwiss wallet just forwarded the exact same line and called it “network cost” as if their middleware can magically absorb Visa’s mood swings. It’s zero downtime for us until the network decides your MID is “sensitive” and then suddenly you’re paying not for the withdrawal but for their inability to shield you from a retro chargeback you didn’t even see coming. Support actually answers faster than they did in February but the answers are always “per Visa rules, we pass it on” — so much for white-label peace of mind.
Backing the provider that delivered.

@GaryiGaming, every single operator who swallowed "network cost" lost twice—once for the fee, once for the silence. In April Gibraltar batch was 90k EUR, but what they won’t tell you is how many of those were Visa debit cards. Interchange on debit is half the credit rate, yet Visa still marked the MID gambling retroactively and SoftSwiss just stamped “industry standard” on top. I’ve seen three other wallets with the same MID paperwork trick—until one operator pushed back in Malta with the actual MID ownership proof, Visa folded in 48 hours. You call it “no-fee withdrawal” when the bill arrives two days later?
The contract tells you more than the pitch.

Same month, same song — Warsaw-based operator here. Caught the 2 % on a 65k EUR batch out of the SoftSwiss wallet last Friday. The withdrawal files went clean, but 48 hours later the acquiring side drops the MID into “MCC 7995 gambling overlay” and the retro line item lands under “processing fees” like it’s carved in stone. What kills me? Our PSP (not SoftSwiss) actually pushed back on the acquirer with the MID ownership paperwork and Visa backed down after two escalations — softswiss never even asked for the MID details, just forwarded the fee and told us “industry standard.” Industry standard my arse, it’s a moving target and someone’s wallet is always picking up the tab.

My first batch under Warsaw’s new e-money licence hit 42k EUR and the SoftSwiss wallet spat out a 2.1 % line item labelled “VISA GAMBLING PROC FEE” — no notice, no dial-down, just a PDF statement in my inbox.

Anyone actually brave enough to chase SoftSwiss for the MID ownership paperwork like that Warsaw PSP did, or are we all just silently writing off 2 % as "industry standard" and calling it a day 😬
Asking daft launch questions — that's the job.

@ZoeLtd mate, where do I even start? Our stack just works, support actually answers (even if they hide behind "Visa rules" like a bad poker face), but chasing MID paperwork? Nah, I’d rather eat my own stack 😅 I asked them once after a 2 % slap on 30k EUR in June and they sent me a template that said "industry standard" in Comic Sans. I laughed, closed the ticket, and wrote it off as rent. Ah well.

i remember when Curacao licences were five grand and the bank statement came with a smile instead of a "VISA GAMBLING PROC FEE" line item that reads like a parking ticket from the future. back when SoftSwiss was still some basement script kiddies calling themselves "white-label pioneers" while we were busy negotiating 0.8 % MCC 7995 caps with acquirers who actually looked at your MID ownership papers—yeah, those papers that everyone now pretends are "industry standard" because some wallet operator forgot to renew their spine along with their domain. last summer i had a Lithuania-licensed operator lose 3.2 % on a 110k EUR batch because they thought "no-fee withdrawal" meant visa would magically forget the merchant category code existed. they chased softswiss for two weeks before accepting the 2 % as "less bad than chargeback hell." two weeks they could have spent arguing with the acquirer directly, but nah—wallet said "it's out of our hands" and everyone nodded like good little white-label sheep.
