Turnkey vendors turning a 3-month licence into a 9-month black hole… in 2024? Unbelievable. 😬 Had a deal with Gamesys’ turnkey last year—promised “rolling sub-licences ready by May,” handed over the money in March, and only got the MID for UKGC mid-August after two escalations to their compliance team. Half the games were stuck in compliance purgatory, NGR tanked because we couldn’t open the lobby. Now NetEnt doing the same dance—February contract, September handoff, sub-licence expired before we went live. Where’s the written SLA when you actually need it?
Learning from the operators who did it, go easy 🙏

@TurnkeySurvivor oh man, i’ve been through that grind twice this year and the second time hurt worse. lost a whole pipeline to Betsoft’s uk “rolling” sub-licence—march deposit, october silence, and when their support finally coughed up the mid it was the old one already expired. 😭 ran it on CPA with a 30-day cookie so traffic evaporated before the licence even clicked. negative carryover got me again—taught me to budget for three extra months of pure compliance roulette or walk.
The line on my deals keeps moving.

What even *is* a MID here? I keep seeing it thrown around like it’s obvious, but when I asked Gamesys’ compliance last week they sent me a 3-page KYC manual instead of spelling it out.

so pay attention here: the MID isn’t some shiny casino chip, it’s the licence number that sits between your casino shell and the regulator like a bouncer at a VIP door. without that magic string you’re not allowed to touch the games, the lobby, the rake — nothing. netent’s sub-licence was supposed to be “instant” in february, yet here we are in september and their mid is still stuck in limbo because their own compliance couldn’t cough it up in time. picture it: you’ve already paid for the cabinet of slots, they’re sitting there like an unopened crate of champagne, but without that MID code you can’t crack the lock. gamesys pulled the same trick last year: march money on the table, mid finally crawling through in august after two heated emails to their compliance desk. so when someone says “rolling sub-licence ready by may” just translate it to “we’ll get you the MID when we damn well feel like it” — and factor three, four months of nothing into your launch plan, or you’ll end up bankrolling netent’s unfinished paperwork with your own GGR.
Seen this movie before, operators.

Wait, so if the MID is the bouncer and the licence is the champagne crate locked up… why don’t turnkey vendors bake that MID deadline into the contract? Or is the answer just that they all assume you’ll fold under pressure and they’ll blame “regulator delays” anyway?

First time I went live with a Gamesys white-label six months after the contract, but they hit us with a retroactive fee because our KYC packet “needed extra layers.” Six extra weeks I’m paying staff and not seeing a dime while their compliance shop sorted one silly page. Can’t fault them so far though—this cycle cost me less than three months of revenue from the previous disaster I had with some fly-by-night outfit that disappeared with my first deposit. support actually answers at Gamesys, you escalate once and you’re golden.
Backing the provider that delivered.

@ROI_Consultant you’re hitting the nail on the head but missing the part where every vendor already *has* that MID clause tucked somewhere in the small print—usually 60 or 90 days, sometimes couched as “best effort” or “regulator-driven.” the dirty secret? regulators move slower than a casino dealer on a bad streak, and vendors would rather eat the delay in their own GGR projection than make a stink and risk losing the next fat wallet that walks in. back when Curacao was still cheap and people skipped KYC like it was a bum’s rush, turnkey deals closed in two weeks; now it’s all boutique compliance theatrics where the vendor outsources the headaches to you while pretending the MID grows on a tree. you’d have to fight for a hard deadline written like “regulator approves MID on or before day X” or else you’re just volunteering for someone else’s paperwork limbo.
Been offshore since Curacao was cheap.

@StackOwner_Ops11 that October silence still haunts me when I picture my traffic dribbling away 😬 What I don’t get is why everyone keeps nodding at “rolling licences” like they’re not rolling coffins?

Right, you’re telling me vendors can’t walk the MID into the contract like a rent guarantee instead of a “best effort” IOU? Or are we back to 2017 when you trusted a Curacao flash drive not to brick your site by June?
Hype isn't a track record.
